INTENDED PURPOSE
• A hand-held device designed specifically for trimming the nails of a patient.
• It may be applicable for the treatment of nails and/or alleviation of a nail related injury.
• It is a robust instrument comprising of two hinged cutting blades that are conjoined at the handle end of the device. The blades are sprung to hold them apart when not activated. When activated, the two blades are pressed together in a chopping motion to bite off (clip) the nail that has been positioned between them.
• This is not a pair of nail scissors.
• This is a reusable device.
INTENDED USER

• The material conforms to ASTM F899-20 & ISO 7153-1:2016, which is recommended for non-active Surgical and Dental Instruments.
WARNINGS
Never:
• Misuse instruments or overstrain joints or racks.
• Use abrasives on instruments, as this will spoil the surface finish. This may later cause discoloration, rusting or pitting.
• Attempt to make repairs yourself. Any repairs made by the users may avoid the warranty.
• Handle instruments by their tips. These should be cleaned by trained personnel only who will ensure the delicate working ends are adequately protected during storage or sterilization.
• Pack instruments with other heavier instruments without care. Remember always – heavy instruments on the bottom and light instruments on the top.

MAINTENANCE PRECAUTIONS
• Check all instructions for use and sterilization of new instruments. Unless otherwise directed they should be inspected, cleaned, rinsed and lubricated (if required) before being put into service.
• Inspect for rust, pits, crakes, pores, dents and misalignments before use.
• Instrument should be used in controlled environment i.e. following operation theatre SOP/Law.
• Lubricate after cleaning with a proprietary water-soluble instrument lubricant.
• Follow approved cleaning procedure of hospital.
• Qualified and experienced personnel should perform processing.
• Do not use corrosive cleaning agents. We recommend cleaning solutions and rinses with pH 7.0.
• Do not use abrasive cleaners & brushes with hard bristles.
• Water quality may influence the result of the cleaning and disinfection of the instruments. Therefore, use only deionized / distilled water or purified water / high purified water for all the steps that require water. Water with chloride contents may damage or even destroy the instruments.
• Do not leave instruments in cleaning or disinfecting solutions for long terms (over night or weekend), the instruments can be destroyed.
• Instruments should only be manually cleaned and disinfected.
• Ensure all instruments are only used for the purpose for which they were designed.
• Handle all instruments gently. Never overstrain, drop or misuse them.
• Periodically check the condition of the Instrument, making sure there is no sign of corrosion. Discard the damaged instruments.
• Check all instruments for damage before and after use.
• Ensure all instruments are thoroughly dried before being stored.
• Pack instruments carefully with the heavier ones lying on a piece of cloth or towel at the bottom.
• Where appropriate, leave racks and ratchets open for storing and sterilizing. (if required)
• Check the hardness of the water used in the autoclave. Too hard water will leave a deposit on the instruments.
• If a water softener is used, ensure it is at the manufacturer’s recommended level. Too much may cause discoloration or pitting.
• When sterilizing instrument(s) in an autoclave cycle ensure that the instructions from sterilizer’s manufacturer are followed.
• Report to the manufacturer and/or authorized representative and the competent authority of the member state in which user and/or patient is established; about any serious incident that has occurred in relation to the device.
• Consult National Infection Control and/or Prevention Protocols for specific guidance regarding processing of medical devices and always follow recommended best hospital practices and local government Health & Safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
CONTAINMENT & TRANSPORTATION
• Contain contaminated instruments in an approved container or trays during transport from the point of use to the decontamination area.
• Reprocess instruments as soon as it is reasonably practical following use.
PREPARATION FOR CLEANING
• Keep working ends open for cleaning.
• While cleaning instruments with movable hinges, ensure that these are in open position and, if applicable, move the joint during cleaning.
CLEANING & DISINFECTION
• Remove any obvious debris accumulated during use from the device with a soft, non-metallic instrument cleaning brush plus mild detergent and sterile purified water solution.
• Always follow recommended procedure for cleaning.
• Rinse thoroughly with sterile, purified water until free of detergent residual and debris.
• Inspect instruments for good cleaning result and repeat procedure if necessary. The best effects are achieved by cleaning and rinsing the instruments immediately after each application.
• Instruments should be disinfected with recommended disinfectant solution and make sure there should be no contact between the instruments.
• Pay close attention to the correct dosages and exposure times. An overdose of the cleaning/disinfection solution is to be avoided.
• Rinse instruments thoroughly with water.
• Then thoroughly dry using sterile wipe before sterilization. Compressed air may be used to aid the drying process.
INSPECTION & PACKING
• Prior to use, visually inspect the instrument for bent, broken, cracked, worn, or missing component(s).
• Edges and surface should be free of nicks.
• Do not use the instrument, if it is damaged or defective.
• Sharpen, service or replace instruments, if necessary.
• If instruments are still dirty, repeat cleaning and disinfection procedures.
• After manual cleaning / disinfection, check visible surfaces visually for residues.
• Pack serviced and cleaned instruments for sterilization. A standard packaging material should be used. •
• Ensure that the pack is large enough to contain the instrument without stressing on it. When used as intended, these instruments do not need an outer wrap or additional protection.
• Always use protective caps for packaging / storage of clean instruments, where needed.
STERILIZATION
• It is recommended to sterilize by moist heat sterilization method, at 134°C for 05 minutes, prior to use in surgery.

• The end of the instrument lifetime is usually determined by wear and damage from use.
• They are then to be disposed of according to best hospital procedure.

• Temperature Limitation: Transport and store between 5°C to 50°C.
